White Pizza Sauce

Looking for a change from the usual red sauce pizza?  Try a white pizza sauce and discover all of the delicious options that this sauce will open up for you!  This is a very basic white sauce that you can use for pizza, pasta and casseroles.  Easy to make, it will keep well in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.  It works well with chicken, shrimp, caramelized onions, basil, buffalo mozzarella cheese and countless other toppings.  Be sure to use a good quality Parmesan and watch the heat closely so that the sauce doesn't burn.  I like to use garlic paste, it eliminates any garlic pieces in the sauce.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 18 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, minced
  • 12 cup parmigiano-reggiano cheese, shredded

  1. Heat butter in a small saucepan. Slowly add flour and stir until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Slowly whisk in milk, adding gradually. Stir in remaining ingredients. The sauce will thicken upon standing.
